Stainless Steel

Re-assuringly Safe & Stylish

  • Stainless Steel Ingredients

Iron (Fe) is the base, Chromium (Cr) for corrosion, Nickel (Ni) to improve strength and formability, Carbon (C) for hardness. Other elements can be added depending on the grade.

We should use these ingredients with respect as they are a precious, limited resource.

Habitat destruction as well as ground pollution and carbon emissions are an unescapable result?? of the mining process.

  • Its top uses

Stainless Steel has a huge array of uses from kitchenware, architectural & industrial, medical plus many more.

In the kitchen we use it for pots & pans, cutlery & food storage containers.

Because of its hygienic and non reactive properties it’s also widely used for surgical and medical equipment.

  • Can it be recycled?

Yes, 100%. It can be recycled without degradation and can be melted and reused for new products. Like most materials though it needs to be pure.

If it’s fused with plastics or other metals, has a chemical coating or painted, recycling may not be possible and that is a crying shame.

  • How it fits our ethos

Recycled Stainless Steel uses less than 70% of the energy required than producing new Stainless Steel. Luckily over 70% of the Stainless Steel in circulation today is made from recycled stock.

It is a great material to make some of our products from. It’s hygienic, food safe and strong properties along with its aesthetics and durability make it an extremely versatile metal for everyday use.
